Grand kids want to go ice fishing so I am looking for some information about access to Kane and Bose lakes for ice fishing and camping this winter. We would like to get in there with our 4x4 1 ton with 22' trailer. I have been to the lakes in the summer but never in winter.

Kane Lakes - I know that people use the Kane valley for X cross country skiing or at least it has trails.
Is it true that they plow the road into there when it snows?
Are the rec sites accessable? with a 4x4 and 22' trailer?

Bose Lake - as far as I know that there is no winter activity venues there.
Is the Road in plowed?
If so what is the accessability to the sites like in winter?

Other lake sites - Are there any other lake sites in the area that can be accessed by truck and a trailer.

Any advice and information would be appreciated.

Thank you

Tunkwa is very good for ice fishing and the roads are always good.

Rec sites aren't usually plowed from what I've seen.
I don't like towing a trailer in the winter.

kane valley is usually not too bad.
there's not really campsites there, more like just pull-off areas.
there's campsites at harmon, but doubtful that is plowed.
just park in the pull-off areas by kane.
yes, the road is usually plowed, but I've been through when it hasn't been.
6-10" snow on the x-country trails today.

I don't think you'd get close to Bose. AFAIK not winter maintained. Edith would be another choice worth considering, on a maintained road ... but maybe a bit of snow plowed over the site accesses.

We went for a drive out to Kane Valley on Friday to check out lakes and things. Saw people ice fishing Englishman Lake, several groups on Harmon Lake as well as some were camping there with trailers. Saw some people ice fishing on Lower Kane Lake. There was maybe a foot of snow around the rec sites so towing a trailer would be easy. I would be putting chains on the trailer though as the road in through the valley was pretty iced up in places.

Once I got home I was reviewing Fishing Map Books including the BC Regs and found in the BC Regs that both Englishman and Kane Lakes are closed to Ice Fishing. With the number of people I saw fishing both Kane and Englishmen Lakes I am wondering if I am missing something in the Regs.

Does any one know the name of the two lakes between Chicken Ranch Lake and Upper Kane lake?

Englishmen, Upper and Lower Kane has no ice fishing according to the regs, also a bait ban and single barbless. Are you sure it was the Kane lakes you were at?
