Here's "Buckhot" (AKC official name is Pheasant Feather's Buckshot of Stonebroke). For the Springer enthusiast here, his sire is NAFC/FC/AFC/CFC Pheasant Feather's Black Powder and his dam is Dylan Abbey's Ale SH. He was born August 25th and I've had him since he was 8 weeks old. My old Charlie will be 9 years old next month, so I figured it was time to start a new pup. So far I'm very pleased with what I'm seeing. We've been doing the regular puppy stuff....crate training, daily walks afield, teaching him "no", his name, etc.. He's a very bold pup. Some Springers these days can be a little on the soft/sensitive side.....not this guy!! Here's a few photos...

He looks wonderful, and will give you lots of years of good hunting and entertainment I'm sure. The land around you looks great for training purposes, also it sounds like the important basic commands, crate training, and bond is all happening at the right time, good job.................

Beauty pup, congrats. I'm sure he will make a great gun dog.

My guy turns 9 in a couple of months, he hasn't lost a step yet, but I'm thinking as you did that it's about time to add a pup to the family.

We cut our tails at about 2/3 left on, give or take to get a white flag on the tip, as do most breeders of field bred dogs, but there are more and more leaving full tails especially in the UK where it is against the law to cut tails.

I was a little upset when I saw the tail was not docked also.. He came from a breeder back east and in the pictures I was sent, I could not see that the tail was not docked.....it was never mentioned in any of our conversations. I assumed that all breeders know that a field bred Springers tail should be docked long leaving 1/2 to 2/3... Grrrrrr!!!! I called the breeder immediately after I got the pup and asked and he said, "Well, we took about an inch off".. B.S... The tail has not been docked at all. So, I'll be visiting with my vet about when a good time would be to get his tail docked. Now instead of a quick and relatively painless procedure I do on my pups at 2 days old, we'll have to put him under and a major operation will have to be performed. I'd leave it long, but in the cover I hunt it will be a raw, bloody mess every time I hunt him and it will be full of cockleburrs.....

That is to bad about the tail. There are a lot of spaniel men back home that refuse to follow the no dock law for just that reason. Top drawer pup you have there with great line he should do well for you

I'm a English Pointer guy, but, that is a good looking pup. Truth be told I enjoy watching dogs work. I really don't care what the breed is, it's just fun.
