I found out I had no work at the beginning of the week so on Monday aft my son and I headed for or usual camping spot in the Christian Valley.I had scouted and hunted this area for the last 20 plus years.First morning out I did my usual route hunting off my quad and ran into about 7 muleys .Seems they have pushed the White Tails out of this area so off I went to my guraneted WT grounds.I no sooner got there and was surprised that there were no ATV tracks in there. In I went to an area that is select logged and I can run a ridge and look down about 100yds both sides.Last year in one spot I saw 2 WT does down the bank so I stopped in the same spot looked over and holy crap thers a rack standing there looking at me.I grabbed my new Virgin 270 X bolt carbon fluted and first checked the tail.Could not be sure then put the scope on the antlers to make sure it wasn't a big muley[lots around].I verified rack and then had to tell myself engine room and shot.Never saw him buck up but I heard him hit this old fence down below.I marked my shot and direction and quaded to bottom to walk base of ridge to look for blood on snow.I gave up after it seemed far enough and walked up hill to marked spot I then went right down and found blood and then about 50 feet further he was piled up on the bottom fence wire.About 90 mins later I had him processed and on quad.Unfortunatly I pinched the bar on my chainsaw cutting my way down a skidder trail to get him which I then had to free with my hatchet[was an ordeal]Unfortunatly no help from #1 son as I left him on the other side.I have some good in field pics on my phone i'll try to add later.I got him at 9:00 am first morning.I usualy gey 4 point basket WT in this area.Yes I am happy!!Been working hard at getting something this year as I spent about 6 full days trying to get a spike fork bull without success.Next on my goal is a decent Muley with my Excalibur Equinox.

The rack colour is so rich in the field pics! What happened? Sun bleached? dried out? seems like quite a drastic colour difference.

Probably the cameras. Field pics are my 8 mega pixels from my HTC smart phone. Home pics are my 6_7 yr old Canon compact. The phone takes better photos.

I've got 9 days off for buck camp this year. I'll be up in the 50's up there. There will be too many guys driving around, so I'll hike and sit the 75 acres of private that we are on... Up behind it is nice too. :)

I love the can am so much more stable than my grizzly 700.Power steering is awesome all day ride comfort. Very good on fuel .Mine is a 2011 last of first gen.My son has the 2nd gen 2012 and it is even more refind. The heat that comes out of the engine bay is nice on a cold day, sucks in summer.
