I was able to muster a short 4 day hunt to our spot we have been going to as a family for over 30 years. 1st day I missed a chip shot at a respectable 4x4, and after shooting my gun to triple check, I was able to put this guy in the freezer on day two.
Not much of a story with this one.... cruising along a overgrown road (to another spot), a doe jumped across the road, and to the left I saw this guys face. I told my old man to stop the quad and I walked back about 20 ft and nearly crapped myself when I saw that he was still standing there at only 30 yrds. I could see really nice brows and old looking face and that was good enough for me. Neck shot and he was down. In over 30 years this is only the 2nd buck we have taken from a truck or quad as the area is pretty thick with very heavy brush on the side roads. Pretty cool to share that moment with my dad, as hunting in pairs just doesn't happen to much in that particular area. As a note: he is a 5x4, 20" inside, and the brows are both over 8" which makes this old guy pretty cool.
