My Montana Muley

Well, our deer population is down somewhat from previous years but I found this buck yesterday.... Not the biggest buck in Montana, but the biggest I've seen this year.. Sorry for the one photo, but I was a long ways from my truck and didn't have a tripod or anything to use to set my camera on for a "Hero Shot"... :-D I ended up having to bone him out and pack the meat out on my back... Took 3 trips to get the meat and horns out... When I was younger I could have done it in two and when I was really young I could have packed him out in one trip..... That ship has left the pier. I'm beat today.... too darn old to take on things like that!!!

At any rate, he's a nice buck and I'm happy to have some meat.. going to make some Jerky with the less desirable cuts and will put the rest into steaks. He is fatter than a hog...just starting to rut. Should be some good eating.

wow no snow yet in Montana.

53 F. degrees yesterday when I this out...I was about 30 miles south of town. When I got to town the temp had dropped to 21 F. Right now we're at
7 F. degrees and it's snowing. Yes, ...I need a Horse!!! I refuse to use a 4-wheeler.. I guess I'm old school, but running around on one those things just isn't hunting to me..
