So I found this, its about 5 ft high. Just wondering if its a blacktail rub, there are some good sized tracks in the area but no other rubs. Most of the rubs I have found in the past have been on smaller alder. Maybe I have been just tracking small deer in the past lol. Just wondering what you guys think.

Looks to me as if something has been foraging for insects under the bark. Limbs between marks and moss undisturbed.

Not the answer I wanted lol. But yes that does make sense. Thanks

That isn't a blacktail deer rub.. That is a Wood Pecker...

those lines are from grubs under the bark hatching and fanning out from eachother eating away. looks like good BT habitat though.

Yeah I started thinking that, I noticed other downed trees with the grub lines in them. If it was a rub there would be more damage. Think I was just hoping it was a monster BT..lol. It is a nice area, my first time in there. Only found one large set of tracks, no does to be seen. Would a buck get into an area before the does? Just an odd thought as we always see bucks following does.
