Over the past 4 years my hunting parter of some 45 years and I have unfortunately had zero success in areas that we had successfully hunted some 10 to 25 years ago. All we saw were wolf tracks and wolf poop and heard them howling every night. We didn't see a moose, a deer, and not even tracks that were less than months old.

It got so bad that our families started to refer to our hunting trips a "fall camping classics"

Well this year started out the same, the first area we camped in was a desert, lots of wolf sign but no elk or deer, or any sign of elk or deer, just wolf sign and we hunted in snow up to our knees. So we packed up the camp and moved down next to the farms and ranches.

Lots of deer and elk (elk season had expired while we were in the high country desert) however we were successfull in taking 4 white tail deer (no more fall camping classics for us.)

Seriously the the wolf situation is clearly out of control. When you spend 50 Days over 4 years hunting in areas that historically produced an abundance of moose, elk, and deer and now nothing but wolf sign, some predator adjustment is required.

Congrats on the haul! Way to adapt and change things up......some places are not the same as they used to be.
Got any photos?

Welcome to HBC DHCaptain. Maybe next year go to those areas you saw all the wolf sign and try to shoot some.
Good on your group for getting some whitetail deer.

No pictures, they were all head shots so wouldn't look too good, on the plus side no meat was wasted!
