Butcher Jr. has been hunting &shooting with me since he was three and been in on many bear, moose and deer kills. He even called in my archery moose for me last fall when he was 9. This year he got to carry a rifle of his own for the first time.
Since he was quite upset at me for posting my pics and not his, here are the bear and deer he took on our hunt to the Gang Ranch in October. He took the buck with a .243 at 169 yards after passing some questionable shots at other deer. It was a great stalk for about 2.5 hours and a good, long pack out. Definitely a hard earned deer.

He got the bear on the followingday with a 25-06 at 75 yards. This thing is pushing the Boone and Crockett minimum and squares 6’6”. I know all the comments I’ll hear about American style posing with the trophy but they are sitting right behind the bear’s front legs. The fella with him is 6’2, 260ish pounds for comparisons sake.
