Had Parker, our 9 month old chocolate lab out for the first time today for a short hunt. It was a learning experience for both the dog and us. For us, tie him to a bigger tree, make sure his collar is on good, and if he's whining he might have to go to the bathroom. He got all the birds but was quite surprised when the one mallard got up and looked at him. We kept a 30 ft rope on him so we could get him back into the blind. Glad we left him at home on the good day with field marshall, Parker definitely cost us some flocks from bashing around! All in all a fun day.

As the others have mentioned have fun !! My pup now two gets better on every hunt. Few weeks past he surprised me by digging out a wounded runner pheasant. Once there on it's just awesome to watch them work.
