What breed of dog would be best for mountain hunting? Mainly goat hunting, must be a medium size dog.

more than the type of dog, more important is to train it well.

Tibetan Mastiff is an incredible mtn dog. Look for the Do kyi and not Tsang kyi bloodlines. The Do Kyis are horse dogs. The good males average 120 lbs and can go anywhere with a good load.

Unfortunately our stud dog was poisoned this year. I have another boy coming in. Alas; 2 more years of training till he'll pack my sheep gear. Back to 50 lbs instead of 25.
