Hello,

We are looking at lake front properties to build a cabin and have started to consider this area. Does anyone have any feed back on fishing, hunting, population, snowmobiling (ice fishing) and horse back riding in the area. We like remote none populated areas but excessable if there is a such a thing these days.

Any insight would be great and thank you in advance.

Francois lake is very nice. The lake fishing in the lake itself is pretty good. There are some very nice beaches. Lots of excellent lakes nearby including eutsuk if you want adventure. The stelako river at the outlet is one of the best fly fishing rivers for rainbows in northern bc.

There are decent mule deer around Francois. Moose are also pretty good. You are about 1 hour drive to goats on Nadina mountain if you get a draw.

Ther are people around but not really that crowded. Francois itself has a few resorts. many of the houses are actually residences for people who work in the bush or at endako mine. There are also a couple lakes nearby with cabins that come up for sale that are more rustic.

Good luck.

Francois can be good fishing. Lots of good lakes to fish both ice fishing and open water. Rivers in the area can be good as well.

Moose hunting can be good gos rifle can be busy. The bow season are quieter and give good opportunity. Also LEH hunts as well giving more opportunity to the lucky. Great black bear hunting and some big boars with almost no pressure. Not an area I would go looking for deer but there is both WT and mule deer. Lots of goat draws with good odds not far away.

Lots of areas to snowmobile and ride horses. Lots of places to get away from people.

Personally not a fan of the south side of the lake and prefer the north side.
