So i just got my Team Elk Pack in Timber Vail color , ordered from the states .. the price was 300 for the pack . 2 Hats 15 bucks each and the Gun cover was 20 bucks .45 for shipping and 53 for customs . .So of course i had to get it out and stuff it full of things, see what its all about . Its a very nice Pack .. , the color is really nice ., the construction is very good .The zippers are top notch, all the bells and whistles . The gun scabbard works very well , i bought the cover just to have it , it does not connect to a buckle on the pack . i havent figured out what the best way to use it yet ,im sure i will .the straps are solid and it rides on the shoulders and the hips really nice .the side pockets for use of a scope or hydration bladder are small for a 3 litre Platyupus to fit whille full . ,better to buy the Eberlestock Bladder . The main compartment is roomy . but quickly fills to the top with most everthing one needs to go for a day hunt . extra clothes ,Jetboil. , before you know it , it full . There are many little pockets inside and the top fanny to fill up with things and im sure once i used it a few times i will find the most productive way to use the space . After loading it up and putting a Rifle in the scabbard . Ajusting the load straps and fitting it , the pack road fine . one thing i noticed was its going to take some practise to quick draw the Rifle from the scabbard . but the design is nice when its not in use to curl up into the pack . I think it would be just fine to pack to a Deer Head and cape to the back , there is ample room and very adjustable .. This is my First Eberlestock Pack . , i really cant see it be a multi-day pack , just not big enough . But for a Day Pack . Im sure im going to find it very useful .. I will be more than happy to post more a Review when i use this pack more . im going mule deer tommorow . Anyway . thats all for now . keep everyone posted . Good hunting .. !

I just bought the j34 " Just One " a month ago , ive put a dozen 6 hour hikes on it ... completely unimpressed. I have also used a dragon fly, I find the suspension is hard to set up and the pack is too short for a guy of my stature " 6'3 " I find its hard to get the load on your hips ... without the zip in covers they are a joke to try and get gear into and its hard to pack the load evenly , the load likes to fall to the bottom. Also I think the over all weight of the pack its self is quite heavy. I wouldn't recommend them for anything more than a day pack. If packing a an 80 + pound load for any period of time I wouldn't recommend them for that either.

I have ordered a Stone Glacier Terminus to replace it.

I have the new elk pack as well as the dragonfly and also a just one. My dragonfly is 5 years old and has impressed me greatly. I think it is one of my highest end pieces of gear. I cant argue that its not heavy, because it is. I have used it both as a multiday [5 day max] and as a daypack. In my old age I wanted a lighter daypack so I bought the elk pack from mister bartell. I only have about 25km of hiking with it but can see its as tough as a hammer, just like my dragonfly. It does fill up rather quickly and weighs about 35lb ready for a dayhike. I doubt I can strap a whole boned out deer on it but I will try. I carry the buttstock of my rifle in the scabbard so that the stock angles to my left hand, which is my draw hand. Its takes a bigger stretch to reach it than it does on my dragonfly but I can still reach it. I have a couple different water bladders that fit it well. Enjoy yours. I have an upcoming mulie hunt that will put 50-60km on it and will take a few pics of it, hopefully weighing closer to 100lbs

I know it wont fill all my needs , i have a Acterex Bora 80 that is my multi-day pack . it fits me like a glove and has never failed me . CHOPPER might i suggest trying to find yourself a Actrerx 60 80 or a 95 litre pack . in large size only . i think that will fit you , you wont be disapointed . I treated myself to this pack because i didnt want to get anything bigger or smaller .. i thought it would be just right . Im over 6 feet and 240 pounds myself . im finding already that it might be tight with a bigger jacket on . only time will tell . i wish it was about 10 litres bigger .. im sure it wil be a good early season elk pack . when you tend to pack less because the weather will be nice .

Like I said im going with the stone glacier terminus for now ... im pretty confident it will do the job I have considered the Acterex as I have a friend that loves his and I think its only 2 pounds to start off with. My stone glacier is going to be under 4 pounds and it is a purpose built hunting pack. Im very interested in the load shelf stone glacier has built into the terminus. the pack is in the mail as we speak , im expecting it on Tuesday. Cant wait to get it on the hill. Just in time for prime time BT rut

I have been looking for my first decent pack. I had a look at the Team Elk in Wholesale Sports. Eberlestock has great reviews wherever I look. I compared the Gunrunner, X1 and Team Elk in size. From what is being said here a 50l. pack might be the right size for a day pack, which is what I want. I had almost decided on the X1 at about 30l. I guess it is better to have too much and not use it than to have to leave something behind.

I own the Eberleskock "Gunrunner" which I picked up at Wholesale Sports in Kamloops. I really like it for day hikes. I carry a 3L bladder in it and no problems. I would recommend the Gunrunner to anyone. I've used it for hunting, and just hiking in the summer with it and it always felt good. Good pack and great quality.

I bought the X2 first. It was a touch small but the worst part was the small waist belt. The elk pack has a full size waist belt.

One word of advice is only carry your rifle in it when you are in the wide open country. I may be alittle anal about the rifle in your hand but I have witness hair raising encounters that would have turned out bad with a rifle in the pack!

Have you considered a new harness from Eberlestock (http://www.eberlestock.com/miva/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=E1&Product_Code=SHLS&Category_Code=AC)?

Check out Kuiu for sweet packs, bit pricey but worth every penny IMO. Just sold all my Badlands packs since I picked one up

I have been using the J34 for a couple years, i really like it. I saw the other post the guy was 6'3, i am 5'6 and it fits me great, i have carried alot of weight in it. I was using a superday badlands pack before and it also worked , but couldnt carry as much at one time..
I also have the zip on attachment, so it fits inside, and if you get a animal it will zip to the outside. I recommend it.. but i have not used anything more expensive... \

Here is a couple more images from this weekend, of the J34 with deer in it. The areas we hunt is always a solid pack out, so we always de-bone our animals.
