Since Halloween is over and I can't find anything in the regs saying its illegal to bait deer...I was wondering if any HBC members have used pumpkins to bait deer? My son and I are hoping to drop some pumpkins for bait next week.

You're good to go.
There are a bazillion threads on here.

They like the squash/pumpkin family from what I've heard.

I have witnessed many deer feeding on pumpkins that people take out into the bush to blow up after Halloween. And yes, its legal to bait deer.

when i lived on the coast we hunted a pumpkin field and the deer loved them, but i dont know about using them in the field for bait dont know anyone that has used pumpkins before, apples, and old mans beard or witches hair ( whatever you want to call it) in piles under fresh cut fir branches work fabulous.
And yes you can bait deer.!!

Grizzly won't den up until December and black bears are still poking around mid-low elevations.
I saw black bear tracks in fresh snow last year Nov 20th.

I assumed it was legal since I couldn't find anything that said it was illegal

Yes, you are ok to bait deer.
For bears, when you finish your hunt for the day you must remove any bait left.

Haven't seen that rule in the regs before, what page is it on?

Actually that is incorrect.

Nowhere in the regulations does it say you are to remove bait each day.

bears are still out.
I was finding fresh tracks all over last year well into November in the deep snow.

I was considering this also, wondering what to do with two pumpkins.
but I don't wanna attract any bears to the area I'm hunting.

You just can't hunt a dangerous animal around ANY type of bait. Read the regs

Not true.

Bears & Migratory birds are the only two things you can't bait here in BC.

19. to intentionally feed or attempt to feed dangerous wildlife (cougar, coyote, wolf and bear) except when lawfully engaged in hunting or trapping where baiting is authorised.
for the 2 ppl why decided to attempt to mock me this is what I was referring to. And only that rule in the regs.

Well seems you were confused.

How exactly did I "mock you" davet?

I simply stated that what you wrote was not true, so we don't confuse more people. There was no intention of being rude, simply letting people now the correct rules when it comes to baiting, as it comes up time and time again on here and a lot of people do not know the rules.

"Except" as in I can sit on a bait pile and shoot wolves, coyotes, cats. Nobody was being a "dick" just pointing out that you are wrong on your rather abrupt assertion about "reading the regs".
