Help me get my nephew his first deer around Kamloops

I am going to Kamloops Nov 22-25, to take my nephew hunting. His parents dont hunt, so he only gets to go when I can take him, usually once a year. I'm from the Kootenays, and have never hunted around Kamloops. He is 14, and I plan on hiking with him, no road hunting. Any advice on where we should try would be greatly appreciated. Hopefully I can get him his first buck.

I don't have the regs in front of me. Is there a Jr hunting season other than "any white tail doe" in the month of Nov around here? I know at 14 years old, you can take any white tail.
Unsure on Mule Deer, other than I know it's 4 pt or bigger for us adults. There are pockets of WT around. The ever popular Tunkwa Lake area has plenty of WT.
