Planning a hunt for mid-November and have two areas in mind but not sure which would be the better choice.

Both areas are quite high, but area 1 has more flat country with some large older cut blocks and thick timber.

Area 2 while still high has a mix of mountains and deep valleys with a variety of featured such as alpine up top, scattered grass lands, oldish cut blocks and thick timber.

I've hunted area 2 in the spring for bear and saw upwards of 30 mule deer over a 3 day span but have never been in there in the fall.

Ive never hunted area 1 before, just going off of "a friends uncles drunken grandfather says this is a good area" type info.

Which would you choose?

If I only had one shot at it and had to choose, I would always choose and area I am familiar with over one that I "heard about".

Ya for sure much more likely to have success in an area you know, because we'll you know it already and where good spots might be

Given that winter will be setting in in the next couple weeks do the differences in geography make any difference in behaviour?

I try to avoid third hand drunken hearsay, especially from some old feller.

For all you know last time he was there was the 70's. :)

Warnniklz: mule deer, and there are wt in the area just not in large numbers yet.

Ok ok I guess the whole drunken grandpa thing was a little exaggerated. It was his drunken godmother. Kidding, he got some info from a coworker who hunts.

I'd go for whatever area has more ravines and cooleys in open country with patches of cover... If that exist in any of your areas
