My hunt started months earlier scouting new and old areas and makin new view spots up high so I can see entire swamps at once. I watched numerous cows and calfs but no bulls. I believe these cows are residents and don't leave their areas.

Sept bow only moose season opens and me and my dad take off for a week long hunt up north It's crazy warm and nothin is moving unless the sun is down. We counted 11 separate moose at one time on the ridge within the hour before dark. None were confirmed bulls.

Found some rut trees and were even woken up at night by a bull rotting up a tree right behind camp. To dark to do anything and half a sleep what An experience.

October bow only season is comin and I start scouting hard again. Finally I see it a beauty bull moose at the time I was guessing it to be a 7 pointer. From the view spot I watched as he walked through. Stoked I new this was the swamp we will work for the october bow only season.

We hunt the bow season getting off work early me my dad and bro. We here movement and cows calling but no visuals
4th day in while in my tree I hear movement finally a bull comes out but it's not the big 7 I seen its a tight little 4 pointer. I watch and the enticapation is killing me my first year bow hunting. I watch the bull as he eats 80yards out walkin over their and back over their finally getting closer he decides to bed down 50 yard away behind a spruce tree in thick alder brush. I'm vibrating its been over an hour of him teasing me and its getting dark. I radio my brother who is at this point in position. He tries to spoke the moose towards me slowly getting closer. Finally the moose hears/smells him and it takes off. Plan failed. We are forced to walk out in the dark headlamps and all. Good hunt. The season ends with no success

GOS rifle dad and I have the week off. We hum and hah over what to do what way to go. A plan is fabbed were goin after the 7 pointer for the 2 days my bro has off and then maybe head north.

Opening morning my , wife dad bro and I are off stupid early. In position and waiting me and my wife in her favourite tree( ) my dad over in another and my bro in his spot, the swamp well covered.
We wait for the thick fog to rise and takes until 11 tell we can actually see any ground. I decide to walk the spots we can't see leaving my wife and goin toward my dad. Off walkin around my bro cons on the radio I see them the big 7 and the tight 4 are together. ( my bro is in the tree I bow hunt from) unable to get a shot the two bulls move through the thick only showing glimpses of themselves.
I went the wrong direction!! Dammit their over their!! Off i go down a nice moose trail it's actually quite and quick. I climb a tree to get my position I can see my wife, dad and bro. He radios me saying I am right where the moose were heading. Everyone is on guard Within minutes my bro radios their moving. I'm waiting expecting to catch a glimpse or hear movement

kaaabooom.in my wife's direction. Are you for real!! Again two years in a row. Kaaaboomm a second shot definetly ffrom my wife's tree. I must assist goes through my head as I scurry her way "by the pizza tree" my bro radios. I'm close as I pop outta the thick into a meadow.
He went down my wife radios. I can't see him he is behind pizza tree. It's the big one. She says "
Don't shoot anymore im right here I say back
I look over and watch the little guy trot away lookin back. My mind not worried about him he is free to go. I round the corner and see the big bull he is down but struggling. I finish him, me and my wife's hunt is over opening day and its a nice moose. My wife estatic me dad and bro slight ego shock but super happy.

Sliced and diced backpacked out and hangin in the cooler we take a day off me satisfied with a moose my dad mad because we took a day off. He convinces me to head out in the morning. We decide to leave that other bull and go try a different spot
down in the new area ten minutes in I'm minding my own business still waking up kaaaboomm. For real I haven't even had a coffee yet. Moose down my dad radios. Unbelievable. We are done the season is over that's enough meat for us
