Last year we walked in to this location without a moose tag, just prior to immature season. We figured we'd look for deer. We climbed a couple thousand feet above the hunt area to glass things. Here's the area:

We spotted a bull, but as mentioned, had no tag. We continued our deer hunting, and later that day, back at camp, decide to go see if we could find the bull. We did, and we ended up calling him in and walking pretty close up to him with the use of some sheds. We decided to return this year if we got a draw.

We were lucky enough to get the LEH, and lucky enough to drop a bull on the walk in, just as night was falling.

Not huge, but it was my hunting partners' first moose and quite exciting.

They had talked all year about going back to get last year's moose and taken a lot of flak from non-believers, so it was especially satisfying to do what we had said we'd do.

We were up late getting the meat cut up and back to camp. We were a 45 minute walk from the quad, and farther from the truck.

The next morning we heard a bunch of wolves and ran across their tracks. They were only in the valley one day (at least we only heard them one day) - probably have a big range.

We also found something bigger:

It was a great trip, made better by the fact that we scouted these moose last year as well as by another trip on the Labour Day Weekend this year. I haven't seen or heard wolves here before - hopefully we'll be just as successful in the future. Might be back again this year for a crack at an immy
