View Full Version : Montana Pheasant Hunting - A Couple Photos

Here's my old Charlie and some roosters we killed behind the house the other day. Pheasant numbers seem to be pretty decent this year. We got up about a dozen birds in about an hour... Seeing quite a few along the roadsides, etc. Huns and Sharptail numbers are down considerably...

This is my daughter's dog, "Ted", and his first rooster of the year. Ted is one of Charlie's pups from a litter we had about 4 years ago. He's really not been trained for the field....pretty much my daughter's companion, but I've taken him out a couple times to see what he would do.. The instincts are there... He hunts close, finds birds, and just seems to know what we're out there for. He just needs some work on delivery to hand, etc...

Those are great looking birds. My Griffon is from your state. Nice dogs also. Looks like some good land to hunt back there ! Cheers

Yup....quite a few Griffons around Montana. Friend of mine here has one. I've not seen him hunt yet, but he's a very nice dog.

Yes, I'm pretty lucky...... We have pheasants on our lawn quite often... We live a few miles outside of town. Our pheasant doesn't compare to places like South Dakota, but it's decent.

Would love to see montana too.
