I hope this photo link works out, coach
Shot a ruffed on the weekend and my wife was doing her thing (cleaning it out, 'cause she's challenging herself to speed and accuracy, not because its HER thing) And she came across a fairly light, bright, semi transparent sack in the cavity. What was it? If my photos worked out, it will be on this thread, otherwise I'll try to post it later.
Havn't eaten that bird yet, I dont imagine there was any problem, just odd to us

I have never seen anything like that in all my years of grouse hunting.

Yes gallbladder if it is attached to the liver...usually a lot darker green though...

Dam it, I love jello. We tossed it in the bush.
Any black market value on grouse galls :-D
Really though, I do recall seeing dark green pouch before, i guess this one was just good and fresh.
thanks

If you ever happen to taste the very staining, dark green stuff that is in a gallbladder, you will understand very quickly where the "gall" part comes from..it means bitter...plus your tongue and mouth would be a gross green. The liquid is bile from the liver.

Never seen that in grouse guts. Strange, maybe just never took a close look at them.

Sounds like you've got your answer - and your picture posting procedure figured out. Nice! :-D

Carefully examine the liver, and you will see it.

hmm from its location under the bell of the liver...solution seems correct...never seen one on a grouse ..

Thanks for your ideas, some good, some giggle. Taking the nephew out this weekend for his first ever hunt/camping trip. Put a spare camper furnace in my canopy to keep us worm at night, see how that works out for us
