I have been watching this buck grow up on trail cam to a studdly 4 pointer blacktail. I have been aftet him since september 1 and have dozens of trail camera of him, see the rubs everywhere and last pics were oct 7, and 10. I know he is still around. I just havent seem him in person yet. Im asking any experiance blacktail hunter if they know any tips or attractants i could use to my advantage. So far in my stand the wind is good, have good cover, and cant be seen. Wondering if grunt calls, rattling, or "can" bleat calls are something i should bring

You say you're hunting from a stand. Have you tried placing a bit of scent around? This time of year and later it should work.

Yes hunting from a stand and its only bow allowed in that area... No i havent tried any scent attractant because i have never used scent ir find any that would work for blacktail. Most stores have deet scent targeted for whitetail so i dunno if its any good for blacktail

One word rut.Hit the stand every chance you get between now and end of nov you will catch him with his pants down.

I've found "doe-in heat estrus" for blacktail deer at wholesale sports.Could be a little early for those scents though. As was said, definatley the rut will bring him out a little more during daylight hours. Oh,and he's a 5 point in my books, all day long.
Doe -in heat on a few rags hanging in some trees, and definatley the can call, swear by it, when the rut starts. Is this a lower elevation buck? Cause they are starting to move around on does, maybe not breeding, but definatley sniffing around.

Yes he is a lower elevation buck. Down in the flats in the back of farmers fields in the thick. Rub lines everywhere just cant pin point where he is normally. There is another buck with him a small 2 point that he always hangs out with. http://i1188.photobucket.com/albums/z404/bc_buckshot/image_zps4f8a66a0.jpg (http://s1188.photobucket.com/user/bc_buckshot/media/image_zps4f8a66a0.jpg.html)

I'm thinking they are a little nocturnal right now due to the moon phase and lack of cloud cover. I only have two pics of an deer during the day on my cams. A couple right before 7 am, but most of them are just past midnight. I think things will change in a week or so and they will be around a little more during the day. Good looking shooter though!!

Big bag of barley to keep the does around and he will show up as well to feed, throw in a bag of pure water softner salt as well. Keep adding the barley when they eat it all. keep the does around an if he is the dominate buck, he will show up.

Scents do work, but there will be that kind of scent all throiugh the bush soon, so it will be no different than now, still competing with all the other does. You need to have an advantage, barley works great!!!

Flame away all you anti baiters......but no different than scent or even hunting a field......each is an advantage over nothing....

I was using salt begining of the year to keep him around my first camera. But after 5 months he stopped showing every 2nd day. I mighy just get anothet bag of salt and some barely. Only down fall i beleive there is a couple bears around and dont want them.

Yea the bears will eat it all in no time. The salt will keep the does around though. I am still getting 200-300 picts a week of does coming to the salt and even the bucks once a week or so show up to eat it.

Good luck
