So if there is a known gut pile close to your honey hole, do you still hunt there or do you figure the animals will be put off? I kind of figure the moose (or deer, etc) are quite used to seeing the remains of their friends and fam but what do you all think...

Doesn't seem to bother them much. Killed our second bull only a few hundred yards from where the first was shot a couple of days before while the crows and ravens squawked away. Had the same scenario numerous times with deer in the past.

My buddy shot a young bull moose standing beside a cow moose near Houston. The next day the cow was still standing beside the gutbag.

How many of us have had one deer watch us do the deed on a recently shot deer. Happened on my sons deer this Sept. If only there had been a second youth with us, we'd have got 2 that day.

I shot a whitetail while packing out my Elk this year, also I've shot moose beside gut piles from the previous day too....doesn't seem to bother them much.

I read an article in a hunting magazine showing that deer are usualy the first visitors to a gut pile and will eat certain pieces of the remains, they're also known to eat fish and small rodents...... I was in shock after reading the article i didnt know deer ate meat ever

You ever watch a gopher eat his sibbling? Maybe they're just trying to stop the bleeding!

Doesn't bother them at all, I've seen lots of deer tracks walking through the bloody snow from the remains of the gut pile the next day

If by winni, you mean a bear, be careful. If you know the pile is there and shoot a bear off it it would most likely be considered baiting.
