Hello everyone  i havent posted a lot as of late, been on reading all the storys though, just been busy with kids, life etc..

so just got back from 12 day hunt up in northern BC (past dease lk) , my good friend has a cabin up there, this was my first fall hunt up there, ive been up there twice before, once summer and thi spast spring for grizz (story was posted) .

Amazing country!! one minute your hunting lower swamps , 5km later mountain tops, plateaus and valleys, sun, no snow, waind , lot sof snow, rain, fog, we had it ALL , made it all the more memorable

We were going for moose (any bull open) , Caribou and goat!!

After months, weeks and days of waiting...sept 28th arrived, i got off night shift early at 5am, picked up buddy, jumped in loaded up truck and trailer, hit Timmys and was GONE!!!

13 hours later we rolled into camp, a rustic log cabin on a beautiful little lake!! set up our cots, unpacked and cracked a beer

So up next am to check area for sign, pressure and start our game plan! not a ton of sign but that means little there as there is tons of rock, moss, big timber , small brush and unless they step , or poop right were you step you wont see it!! snow had already set in up high... where the goats were... day one and we were realizing were a little late fo rgoat as mountains were covered in snopw, lot sof fog, cloud cover and impossible glassing and access :(

after morning of investigating, home for warm up, lunch and plan...

evening we headed to a different mountain range, 7km ran into this ...

continued on and on road saw fresh moose tracks.. the snow was just slowing from snowing heavily and these tracks were at most 45 min old..... quadded past couple hundred yards, parked, started calling... slowly walk road calling, stopped where tracks entered heavy bush... called, slowly returned to quads, leaned against them , me looking one way, buddy the other way...i chnaged it up and switched to a couple bull grunts and waited... when suddenly my buddy whispers "MOOSE" .... i look and a nice bull had silently walked out onto trail right were he had entered the bush.. approx 200 yards from us...buddy lines up and BOOM! bullturns, takes step back then runs through ditch up side back into bush..... we start walking towards , take 10 steps when the bull comes flying out of the bush backwards ass over tea kettle down into ditch, gets up, walks onto trail, and stands there, where another shot in hump put shim down for GOOD!!! day one , 4pm, moose down!! pressure off :)

so we were doing some calling in a area a nice bull had been shot 3 day sprior but a monster had been seen 50" plus... lot sof little swamps and bush patches tucked down between 3 monutains... no answers, no movenment. we contiuned on around and making way up towarsd "the saddle" to drop between and over to next basin.... CARIBOU!!! 7 cows and a good bull approx 1 km away.... we stop, glass, video , zoom, cant confirm 5 on top from that distance, stalk is on.... very open terrain, hard to be unseen, they saw us and watched curiously.. when they went behind small knoll, we booked it... crossing fresh grizz tracks .... check that in back of mind lol.... get to about 500 yards, cows come from behind knoll.. now more aware they start trotting..away... bull comes out, big old grey bull , nice white main.. i could easlit see 4 on top, but 5th point eluded me.. hard as i try, ever time bull ran, stoppd turned, small bull was right beside him so i couldnt tell whos points were who's!!! so there we sit watching a big bull caribout trot away and not being able to confirm 5th point.... in my mind i think we let a legal bull walk, but, thinking and knowing are very different!! good experience, my first BOO experience :) no pics, some short , shakey video, that to come later, video of trip is being edited for your viewing pleasure :)

back to camp for night ... next day up early to new , lower area for calling.... was on mountain , watching sun come up, drinkig coffee and looking at this, what a beauty morning, one of very few we had!!

day 3 was without animal sightings, shot a few ptargiman, exploreed, found spot with more sign and called that night to no avail, same following morning (day 4)... moose werent moving.. couple other groups had seen little, few answers, hard hunting..

we ended down low to were there was zero snow, warmer and bogs, grass, buck brush, found spot between two swamps and called from 430 to 6, finally we decided to head back to quads and slowly make out way down road behins swamps, see if we coul dcatch something moving or coming to call.

Off we go, along a new spot , incredibule area, sign everywhere.. im thinking thi sit it!! thi swere we will concentrate for 2nd moose and calling..get approx 3km from were i was acalling.. coming down towards marshy area, com earound corning and MOOSE!! big bull standing out like a big blk spot in marsh approx 300-320 yards away .... off bike load up x Bolt 300 WSM with 165gr tipped tsx.... settle cross hairs on top of shoulder calculating 5-6" drop, breath, squeeze... BOOM.... BUll lurches forward hit.. takes 6-8 steps and goes down... trys to get up, stays down!!! woohoo, moose down!!! we walk up across marsh, to find this... huge body !!!

day 4 and tagghed out on moose !!! with over a week to go with zero pressure :)

we had to quarter him there he was so big and stinky!!! probably 200-300 lbs bigger then first bull. little nerve racking getting dark, in marsh with buck brush all around... guns were close, loaded , quad light son, head lamps on, ears on high alert.. loaded up, 2 quarters on each quad and left 45 after dark.. 30 km quad ride back to cabin, but man it felt good :)

got into the whiskey that night lol... had camp day , hanging , skinning, tarping animals...

with pressure off, we made trip into watson lk to visit buddys uncle for one night, returned to camp, tried for more caribou but more snow made quad access impossible to high country... a guide outfitter ended up giving us a clients caribou, all proper tag numbers, letters, i checked it all out with dease lk CO, i didnt want and trouble at a game check :)

we came home 2 days early as we were tagged out on moose and goat and caribou access were impossible... amazing trip, cant wait to go again... few more pics from and when we returned ...

no, too much snow to get up where they were, and all the fog and low cloud made it impossible to glass. I really want a goat!! might just focus on goat and elk next year ...
