I was driving back down highway 97 on my way home and stopped in at an A&W for breakfast and the guy at the next table said there were people who had farm stays and B&B for elk hunting around Chetwynd-has anybody done this and if so where do you find out about it?

I am hunting the farms, but I live here so don't stay at B & Bs...never heard of an actual package deal like that....neither has my co worker...I'll ask around...

It may be they are thinking of Jeff, at Pine River Ranch...

Steve at the very end of Lone Prarie has a house they rent. He's the last house on the right, newer house. The house they rent is a 5 bedroom big house fully furnished and they let you hunt all of their land. ( 500 acres?) $75/night for the whole house.

And Steve has wolves in his horse pasture from time to time :)

Isn't that considered illegal guiding if he only let you hunt his land if you rent the house? Slippery slope there.

Not illegal guiding and a landowner can charge whatever trespass fee he wants.

He does NOT guide. You can rent his place, and he allows you to hunt his land with permission. Period. Just like any land owner. He doesn't guide.

The reason I mentioned this is that a few years ago I was considering a B&B on the Skeena River, when talking with the local CO's they informed me that I would have to very careful in what I said to guests or it could be considered to be guiding without a lic. or rod days.....looks like it must be different when it comes to land and game animals.

If you are telling the guests where the game is then that is guiding. If you are just renting the house out and letting them hunt your property. Then it isn't guiding. Your answer was in your post.

I hope you didn't have one CO's word for it.

It's a house to rent..... Who said anything about guiding???

Why do people read into bullshit that doesn't exist?

People do it all the damn time...they skip reading the pertinent information, draw incorrect conclusions, make ridiculous assumptions and logic defying leaps...and it seems even more so on a discussion forum...

Advice is not guiding. Plenty of business owners will answer when asked by a customer where the deer are at or directions to local areas. It's up to the person to get to the area and make it happen. Crown or private land regardless. Part of operating lodging and providing niche service is advice. Hunter friendly b&b or camp site is just that. Trespass fees are simply short term easements. It's not guiding. If one advertises and practices lodging for the purpose of hunting and solely hunting with services to increase success such as; "scouting", cams, and escorting to areas then i could see the allegation of guiding without a licence. Or perhaps trespass fees for crown land. Otherwise every person on here offering up areas and advice could be loosely alleged to be guiding WO a licence. Asking a CO about it is like asking a car sales man if he thinks you need a new truck. Deep down you'll know what their answer is but it's not quite true is it?
