I have both the capstan winch and the Lewis winch. Used the capstan for pulling out moose-bear and deer, also pulled out a lot of logs for firewood....

Dominant right eye and left hand shooter. Generally have to keep the right eye closed or sight picture fades in and out.

The only reason to close one eye is if your dominent eye doesn't match up with your dominent hand... right hand pulling the string... with right eye...
