    Best < $500 binos

I recall 15 years ago purchasing a set of Leopold Cascade binos for under $500 and being very impressed for clarity, size and overall use. Looking for a set for my nephew who is new to hunting. What do you say is the best all around binos for $500 or less?

Don’t know if they are “the best”. I am very pleased with my Steiner binos which run around $500. Good reports from a friend on his Steiner binos. Knowledgeable user with 26 years experience as a big game guide.

Nikon Monarch 5's are almost as good as my vortex razors in my opinion.
When in doubt, just pin it.

MY son has a pair of Carson 10x42 almost as good as my swarovski 10x42 and they run about 300 cdn . small company based out of new york. I used the Carson's on my last sheep hunt and was blown away by them. HIghly recommend them

Another vote for the Nikon Monarch series of binoculars. Both the 3s and 5s are good, with the 5s having higher quality glass.

With a lower budget consider getting a porro prism binocular. A little bulkier than roof prisms, but dollar for dollar you will get a better view with porros at the lower end of the $$ spectrum.

Another vote for the Nikon line up. Monarch 5 in the price range but a couple bucks more and you can get Monarch 7. Both good binos for the price.
