    Bear down

Went out last week with a buddy. He dropped me off in a cut and I took a seat on a stump over looking this good sized block. I was thinking what a perfect night it was to shoot a bear. Now I have a hard time sitting still, I much prefer putting the boots to the ground, and after about 45 mins of sitting on the stump my ass was getting sore and my mind was starting to wander. I decided to start calling. So i mustered up what I thought a calf moose would sound like and started whining like a little bitch.

it wasnt 5 mins and I see a bear coming from the top of the cut, about 400 yards away. I grabbed grandpas old pre 64 model 1894 30-30 and went to head the bear off. I get to the top of a little hill that I knew he would be coming up to and I instantly see him below me at about 40 yards. I shoulder the gun and well you can see what happened. sorry about the gore, I wasnt going to post the pics but....fkuc it.

Hes around 6' with a big ol head on him.

    good luck out there

Great write-up and great bear! Congrats!!

I can relate about sitting on stumps or anywhere for too long.

I get bored and my mind starts to wander then sometimes call in hope of some excitement. Looks like it worked out for you! Do you think he was coming in for the whiny calf call or coincidence? Looks like a calf eater to me, so I am guessing the former.

Congrats and thanks for posting it all up for us to read/see

Never mind the gore. Life is messy. Great bear, and shooting it with Grandpas rifle even better

Nice work! I might just have to have a big ole bowl of whiny bitch flakes for breakfast one day and try your technique.
