The Lower Fraser Fish Alliance (LFFA) and the Fraser Salmon Management Council (FRSMC) both have now fully endorsed the PBPS IFMP to harvest pinnipeds to bring their populations back into historical balance. They joined a growing list of FN's doing so, including the Nisga’a (Licenses issued) and the Haida (discussions ongoing). At this rate, it is entirely likely that every single coastal FN will be onboard in the next short while.
And on it goes...

I think this is long overdue and would like to be able to take part....most likely only be FN though.
Great news! I hope they start with ones living in the estuaries.

I get it, but that special interest in this case is a tool for the greater good. We are using them to do a job that simply has to be done. Not that I dont agree with you in part. But we need to find a way to control pinnipeds from our estuaries and in many case way the fack up the rivers and into lakes. Throwing your foot down over this one does us zero service and in fact will hurt us. Who do you think will be the last to have access over our salmon runs? Not me or you.
