There should be major fines for first offenses, then equipment forfeitures/fines after that. We do have laws, they just need to be enforced.

The real question should be, why do they allow the gill net opening in there? 30+ gill net boats in and around Moutcha Bay two weeks before they bust this guy.
Officials should confiscate the works. Boat , truck , trailer, gear etc etc. Auction it off, proceeds back to habitat restoration.
Our Judges and courts are an absolute joke. Laws and rules are there to enforce. Do it! Make an example of folks like this.
