Not sure what MU you are going to hunt but if its in Norther BC Oct may be a little late only because of the weather. There will probably be snow and freezing temp so mountain climbing would be dangerous.

Glad to say I have hunted Northern BC
Simon Fraser had pretty good judgement on what he found in BC
Best of luck - I'm quite jealous - It will be another year at least before I can start approaching a goat hunt. Do post pictures/stories when you get there.
My biggest tip would be pack light! Pack so you can pack up camp every morning, hike with it on you all day and then set it up again in a different location. If you hunt from a base camp you will need to cover so many more KMs. October they won’t be moving much so you will need to be lol.
Lots of good advice so far.
My thoughts would be
GOOD WELL FITTING HIKING BOOTS. Not your every day hunting boots that feel good walking on roads.
Optics save miles
Walking sticks save knees
Take out the shoulder if you can with a fallow up shot as they tend to jump over the edge.
Good Luck
