Some places they just don't like.

I know a spot right on the border of Region 2 and 8 and though I have seen one elk on the Region 2 side of the ridge dividing the areas, they almost exclusively stay on the east (Region 8 ) side.

I saw an Elk around 15 years ago hiking to Kicking Horse campsite, just west of Three Brothers Mountain. Early July....

Why would there be any doubt of elk in the Manning.
The northern border of the park is a spit away from Whipsaw and all the Princeton elk.
    1. Human over population

Very interesting info, thanks for the replies!
As for the Rosie's, it was in a very old book on the history of the park that I found when I stayed in one of the cabins years ago. Whether they actually were or not is another story. Thanks again for the info, definitely would be cool to run into one up there!

Camping at Lightning Lake with the kids in the late 1980's we had the odd elk wander through the site.
Wish I could find the pictures.

I was bow hunting Sunday Summit this weekend and I saw at least 4 sets of new elk tracks in the snow we got Sunday and two nice rubs (6'+) I am planning to head back in Sept 1 next year.
