    Waterproofing older day pack

I've got an older day pack where the inner rubber like coating is wearing off in a crumbly mess. I read on here somewhere that wall tents were being coated in thompsons water seal so I thought I might give that a try to extend the life of my pack. Opinions? Better products? Or should I just get a new pack?

There is a product called Neverwet by Rustoleum. Looks good on the you tube vids, but I'm told it does not work as well in real life circumstances. Dunno.......maybe worth a try?

Forget Thompsons. They changed something in the formula years ago and it won't work on fabric. We used to use it our sleeping bags and it would be almost waterproof for months. It still is great to preserve your TOPO maps.

If all else fails you can get some lightweight waterproof dry bags or compression bags for inside your pack.
