Things might expand if snow settles or melts a bit. Let's hope for no crust. Forecast is cool and dry this week, with snow to come the following week.

Looking forward to hearing about guys' tactics this weekend, should be great rut activity!

Was up checking cards and restocking yesterday at 2 of my spots. GPS has the elevation at the the two sites marked 1512m and 1247m. Deer are piled in there thick as thieves.

The deer at the lower elevation site (1247m) winter there every year regardless of snow levels. Take what you will from that but I would not overlook the upper elevation areas.

We’ll see what happens. If everything aligns, I’ll head up tomorrow night. How much snow is currently there?

Still lots but it has settled. Was able to get around in 4x4 without issue. Some of the side roads would be questionable without a sled.

No photos lately, so I’ll post one I found on a Marlin forum I frequent. Guy just shot this “6” (3) point last week. I’m assuming southeast USA, but he didn’t say. I think it might be a Pygmy Whitetail??

I’ve been “going” hard for a week or so now. I’ve seen exactly ONE buck, and it was on the drive in one morning. Legal, but he was gone before I could get out the door of the truck. -9* does not make for comfortable sits in the blind. Beautiful days in the field though!

Any updates? How is the rut going? What are snow levels like? My only update is that I was unable to leave last weekend because kids got sick. Planning to head up for this weekend. I’m hoping they’re running around like they were last year on camera
