That is why you nick named him Grampa....he heads south during the "warm" season and comes back after it cools down. You have to wonder where they go.......and yet show back to the same areas. That is why they are survivors!!!

Thanks for letting us know about the old guy!!

He's off limits for me now this year since I've already taken a whitey buck....and if he sheds 3 days earlier this year
and I happen to be in a tree looking for an antlerless whitey, I've already told myself that I won't arrow him.
    He's certainly earned his pass.

Here's a flashback to 2005 and a buck my buddy happened to take on the first day he tagged along with me into an area that used to be pretty good.
Not bad for an Region 8 whitey. Not many like this get shot each year but I believe they are still out there.
If Gramps can avoid hunters both two and four legged this long, a buck with better genetics certainly can as well.

Pulled a couple cams today, they are now out for the season.
I get ample buck activity but not that class above in these spots.

    Nothing overly exciting to share.

wow, that's a nice buck. Do you know what he scored??

Also, what's the story on him .... did he get shot because he was careless during the rut, or was he spotted while bedded, or what?

Grossed 178" IIRC. Driver's side went 81". Passenger side was a little smaller.

Shot Nov 11, 2005 approx 2:45 pm... just sitting still in an area polluted with scrapes.

This cat stands out as it appears to have quite the tail, seems longer than most.
