Too bad about his demise. I remember the pics you shared last year. Would have been a heck of a wall hanger
Haven't been able to take a vacation since 2005 man. I'm literally stuck in the rat race, but I'm saving and investing as aggressively as possible and hoping to hop on the Freedom 45 train (if everything goes as planned - ha!). It will be a total game changer to experience what it's like to be able to hunt for more than a weekend at a time (especially for big whitetails)

Ya man already think I've spotted a couple of his offspring on cameras. There could be more than I realize but with these brutal fires this year I haven't been able to check 6 of my cameras and I'm pretty sure they may have melted.

Looks like you've got some incredible genetics in your neck of the woods too eh? Keep up posted on that youngster. Hopefully he evades all the hunting pressure this year.

    Good luck this fall

Once the mulies move out in mid October, the whitetails always move in and stay till the snow pushes them lower

Keep at it. Worst thing about shooting a big deer is the taxidermy bill but it's a good problem to have.

Great stuff SS, I know you've got more coming down the pipe.

Statute of limitations is expiring on a few deer so will start posting up a couple from the past few years. Found this buck in 2016 and really wanted to keep an eye on him. He almost made it through the late bow season but was harvested by another hunter.

What a tank! Love the split brow tines. He's even slipping you the tongue. Buck of a lifetime for sure. If he's still kicking, I hope you get a shot at him

He was harvested in the late bow season that year so unfortunately I didn't get a chance to pursue him the following year.

Re: Some Big Whities For Ya...

Lets bump this thread up as it is TIME!!!!!

A couple years ago I came across a story about guys hunting scrape lines and creating their own to draw in the bucks.

So I started playing around with finding scrapes and putting a camera on them. There was some action, but not a lot. Then I read about creating their own and started doing that. Last year was the first time and I did get some action, but was not serious at it.

This year, I started earlier, Oct 20 and got some started. Last year I looked for old scrapes and marked them on the GPS. I started by walking the trails, looking for spots where two/three trails came together on a main one. I then looked for a licking branch, some branch about 5-6' off the ground and "scraped" away the leaves down the bare earth right below it. I then dropped the fly and peed into it. Then placed the camera and waited a week to see who was around. I also hit up the old scrapes and did the same.

    The results

Even the does and fawns are interested

This week I am trying the fake stuff - Tinks and Code Blue. Will update on what I find

The scrapes were hit mostly by those 2.5-3.5 year old bucks that are running around everywhere right now. The big boys will start to show up and the party is about to start! Lots of scrapes around and rubs are everywhere.

Time to hit the bush and get things set up!

    Good luck all!!

    Cheers
