My first deer ever, this year, so I guess it's my best as they lay photo, nothing compared to Moosin's

My hunting partners big bull he got last weekend. We got him by pushing bush and standing post. Lots of hiking and farting down wind got them moving. Maybe pork and beans are the magic bullet……?

Another beautiful bull, good sized body too.

If the world is warming why are there so many new snowflakes?

If we are all equal why do you demand special treatment?

You can not comply your way out of tyranny.

Impressive. Good tactic, noted for next time I can’t get one during the rutt.

Mid day, right when we shoot most of the bull elk. Remember, anything can happen and the whole season is good you just have to change up tactics based on time of year and feed. Snow helps a ton. Often referred to as the “great equalizer”. This fellow was still with cows acting like the herd bull he was. I have seen this until the last day of the season here in Northern Alberta, Nov 30, and still quietly bugling. Lots of boots on the ground to find the right set up and make things happen. Sometimes the action doesn’t start until late afternoon, not because they are heading back to feed, it just took that much walking to find the fresh sign and put the puzzle together for the day. And if nothing is found that day, which is rare, that fine too. That is also useful data. Everyday you get schooled is one more for the memory bank.
If it doesn’t come together in the rut, no worries, lots of time to keep at it if you’re local.

Ps, no farts or pants shitting needed, you smell bad enough to an elk already.

pps, works on other game as well. (Walt Prothero, a hunting great used to use his own smelly hunting cloths and gear to do a 1 person drive by hanging them on the downwind side on trees, and hot stepping to the up wind side before the buck pushed out) also 100% success using his “loop method” for tracking. One of the greatest hunters of all time and a great author. Well worth it to read, and re read his books.
