Went up to Campbell River this weekend with a friend and our boys (both 8yrs old), took all of 45 min to get one on the ground.
Wish I had an exciting story, but wasn't much to it. Left Duncan at 4:30 am Fri morn, and got to where my friend (who knows the area well) wanted to hunt by about 7:20. Came up on a bit of a swampy area and I said something like "looks like a nice place for a moose, if we had any" (buddy agreed), and drove on. Got about 30 feet when I saw something move out of the corner of my eye. This guy had just pushed a doe out of the timber and was moving along the edge of the swamp, maybe 130 yards out.
I think my favorite part of the whole weekend was hearing "YAAA!!! You got him, Dad!!" First successful hunt with my boy by my side.

Glassed up this guy with a bunch of does and decided to make a play on him. Not much of a story as all went well closing the gap and he didn't know what him when the SSMAG went Boom. He now resides in the freezer in the form of Kielbasa, Montery Jack Jalapeno Smokies and Hot Italian Sauasage!

Another "Regression Buck" again this year. Damn near no teeth, and come down substantially from last year's 4x4 frame. Still would take this shot again in a heartbeat!!

Story or link to story: a late morning sneak up one of my hillsides rewarded me with some extra winter meat. The moss was soft and the light wind was right in my face as I snuck along the rocky side hill. I slowed to an extreme when I started hearing some scratching noises in a nearby thicket. As I got closer a bird flushed out of the dry leaves he was scratching. A few more steps and I look uphill fifty yards and I can see the tips of antlers.... He was laying in his bed licking his back when I put a quick shot through his neck. He had no idea, perfect. Taking a blacktail in his bed was a first for me and I can hardly wait to get back out there. Cheers. MW
