    Decoy set advice.......

Hi all, I'm looking for some advice on setting up my Decoys.... Do you run a single "mother line" and clip/tie your decoys to it? Or do you use individual lines and weights for each decoy? Or is there another way alltogether?

    IMHO,
Here for puddle ducks I run individual weights I’ll mix species for the area. Divers and Whistlers I run Doctari guide series long lines with 36-inch drops, for safety. And usually separate species and use between 36-96 decoys depending on time of year and area I’m hunting.

I'd pretty much concur with Rick with a few addtions..

Sometimes tide is an issue where a longline may be the solution to either less re-setting or just making simple retrieval.

Laziness, getting alot of birds out and in quick is way easier longlines.

You can get all you need to rig longlines local and save some bucks by making it yourself. Something not available to folks disntant from the commercial fishery.

    Very best,

    Ian
