New Hunter saying hello

Just wanted to say hello to everyone. Just became a hunter this season(haven't had any luck yet but still having fun) I have only been out twice around here(Duncan area) with no luck. Would love to know about any spots a newbie might be able to get a deer before the season ends?? Also would like to meet a mentor ??

I am rifle hunting. 308w. Looking to get some meat in the freezer. Dont have much gear yet but just started.

Hi 308;

I have a 308 as well and don't let anyone on this site tell you you need a bigger gun. When I'm on the island I go to Nanaimo Lakes and Northwest Bay for blacktail. Gates are a problem with these areas, but manageable if you time it right.
