    Region 3.12

Hi, this is my first post and I just had a question or 2. I was up in region 3-12 by pennask lake and around the power lines the last few days and didnt see a single deer. Saw lots of tracks, but no deer. I saw 6 moose, 2 bulls 3 cows and a calf. Do the deer leave this area when it snows like it did or do they just stay in the trees more? Also I didnt see one other hunter, it made me think that I was in a closed area but I read and double checked the regs and it says its open until dec 10th for 4 pointeror better, or any white tail buck. Was the lack of other hunters a hint that I was in the wrong area?
    Thanks for any responses

You're a little high in elevation for this time of year. The moose can cope with deeper snow depths than deer. Lots of willow flats in that area to keep moose around. Try lower elevations for deer.

I worked out there all fall... Starting in early September. I spent around 20-30 days working out there up untill mid November and seen very few deer around. Less than 10 mule deer, including one small buck I walked upto the first day in the bush, and one whitetail. I would propably not waste my time hunting deer in that area. How much snow up there? Were you able to still drive around, or were you snowmobiling or staying on plowed roads?
