All the Enfields I've shot, including my sporterized No.5 which is very light, have minimal recoil and have very smooth actions. Some shoot respectably, my No.1s both do, but the five is a spray nozzle, shots going anywhere inside the aperture view. They're nice bush guns.

I'd second RJ's advice that a used rifle will be more efficient for your purpose.

Do you have a budget in mind? if so that could really help on what guy's will recommend. The scopes, rings and bases that come with those packages are crap some are compete garbage. But is the budget is tight it should get you through a season or 2. As for caliber 270, 7mm-08, 308 and 30-06. Would all be great choices. All very manageable recoil.

I would say somewhere in the range of $500-$600 depending. I was only looking at the Remington 770 because it was "on sale" on Wholesale Sports website

Hahaha Buy a dodge and all life's problems will go away LOL

So with that budget I would look at the savage 11/111 packages. I know 2 people with these rifles and there happy with them. Plan on upgrading the scope and rings when you can afford it.

    Re: Rifle question!

Yup. If you change the caliber to 30/06 it 100$ cheaper

A Savage .300 WM with Accustock and Accutrigger is an excellent rifle for a very reasonable price...but buy the rifle solo.
Wholesale Sports has the 3-9X40 Bushnell Elite scopes for about $300, and together they'd make a great combo for the
best price. Nothing wrong with the 30.06 either, btw!
B.C., PRE-NDP, formerly the best place to play! Cogito, ergo armatus sum!
