    And the best socks are...........

Needing new hiking socks. Have been wearing Bridgedale socks, light weight / medium weight depending on temp and choice of boot for the hike, over a coolmax or Gobi polypropolene sock liner. Somewhat happy with the Bridgedale socks, but with holes in the heels and now blisters on my heels for wearing worn out socks, it's time for some new socks.

I want a sock that allows slipping to occur between the sock and the sock liner, socks that hold their shape......no rolling, folding or stretching out, socks that wick away moisture, and socks that are not too tight at the calf.
What are ya all happy with?

Thorlos I cant remember the spelling. They are at Mountain Equipment. Or online order 75% Merano wool and sooo soft. They dont slip.

I have spent hundreds of dollars trying different socks... Now I spend about a hundred bucks a year replacing all my Thorlos because I wear them so much. Best hiking sock I've ever had... period.

    Thorlo Trekker Level III's.

For around the house... Bass Pro lifetime warranty socks...

at the risk of getting torn a new one I'm going to say that for general purpose socks (work, camping) I've been using the green and grey remington socks from walmart. Bought a pair because they are $6.84 and I really like them. Might not be great for hiking but I find them soft, comfy and warm and have held up to a fair amount of abuse.

I agree with Throlos as well.

In saying that though last summer I bought some Merino Icebreaker socks which are outstanding.

I wear a very thin merino liner sock as well sometimes, makes a very nice combo with the Thorlos.
