    Field Trials

Just watched some of my first retriever trials - not as interesting as watching the pointing trials but still pretty neat.

Anyone here at the Logan Lake event(s) going on this weekend?

I have done a bit of retriever trialing back many years ago, watched a lot of pointing dog trials, but if you want to watch something really exciting and very close to "real" hunting go see a Spaniel tria. Nothing like watchinGg one of those little dogs hit a big cock bird in a hard flush 30 ft in front of the gunner then wait rock steady till released for a long often semi blind retrieve. Great stuff.

I judged the Open stake on Friday at Tunkwa.......37 dogs; the dog work was great but I damn near froze......windy all day with some showers and reallly cool weather, more like Nov. 1 than Jul. 1.....
