this is what we found in 2012 early season sheep hunting. He was full velvet and measured 53" wide.

Tough to contain my jelousy! Didn't realize that you could "rent" horses. Where one start to look to try organize this? I'd love to try horses on a Kootnay elk hunt.

Hey dakoda62 , How long ago were you in there. We were in there in 2007 before the deluxe lodge. We were in a wall tent and my hunting partner didn't sleep a wink the whole time i think. The bears had him worried. We each got an elk and a bear got a hind quarter. There was a legal moose 50 yards from the cabin but we let him walk. It was a good time.

We did 2 trips in 2013 and 2014 10 days each. The new cabin they built is awesome. The deck for the tent is still there but slowly falling apart. Both our 2013 moose were taken in camp lol 1 off the old cabin deck and the other off the new. Last year i took him just behind the cabin maybe 200 yds. The Elk we took on the south ridge past the cabin. Sadly no bears or a good thing my partner had a tag for 2013.
