Saturday morning found myself, Field Marshal, his grandson James and the two dogs in our normal field for a duck shoot. The day started with tones of mallards landing into the set 20min befor shooting light. We watched and drank coffee and prepared for what we figured would be an outstanding shoot. Well the birds had other plans, it was 35 min into shooting light before we took our first shot, from then on it was a slow morning with only singles comming in spaced out by 20 or 30 min between birds. The shooting had its ups and downs but for the most part we shot well and the birds that did commit did not make it out of the spread. We finnished up around 11 am with 9 drakes and 7 hens. As always it was a good time and the weather made it a wonderfull day to spend afield with friends.
