New Blind Paying Dividends
We got in the marsh on Sunday morning for a a few hours of hunting. The day was shortened due to a 12:45 pm hockey game, but none the less, it was an enjoyable day.
Not too many birds flying low, even though several flocks were moving north up the lake. We did see a nice flight of Canada's heading toward us, but then saw some big splashes across the marsh by Dano's blind. They peeled off after that.
We did have a nice group of mallards drop into the spread shortly after legal time; we were't even calling, they just saw the spread and dropped in from the right. A little better shooting would have seen more than two birds down. A couple other singles were dropped, but then we had to pack up.
Angus did his job pretty well and brought in all four birds. One was even a nice about 50 to 60 yard water retrieve. This was the first time he was out on his own without Maddy showing him the way. Good dog!
And sure as sh!t, as soon as the guns were packed away in the boat, a nice flight of a dozen mallards flies low, right over us. Never fails.
Here's a couple shots of Gregg and Angus as we were packing up.
Drinking rum before 10 a.m. does not mean you are an alcoholic, it means you are a pirate.
