I found one of those in my blind last season. It made me mad at first as I didn't want someone's high brass loads in my blind and giving the impression it was mine. On closer inspection, it was sealed with wax at the crimp. I haven't opened it up yet but I figured it was a reload, wonder where I put it???
At least I can narrow it down a bit as to who uses my blind when I'm not there!

P.S. Haven't been out since the freeze, thanks for the post Heyblast. If you get out again tommorrow, let me know the conditions as I plan on going on the weekend.
Buddi doing what she does best!
Great looking blind for sure. Two weeks ago my hunting buddy and I went to the Pitt marsh area, and we scouted out a nice looking spot where we want to build a blind. Before I spend the time, effort, and money, I have a question for fellow duck hunters. If a blind is built on public land, does it make it ok for any other hunter to use? And if you head out one morning to the blind you spent your time, effort and money on, and another hunter is already sitting in your blind, what would be the "right" course of action? Keep in mind the hunters sitting in your blind have guns as well. Ha, Ha!

The problem with public land is its PUBLIC. You build something on public land, its not yours. That being said, there is unwritten rules about that sort of thing. And some were either brought up or taught to not use them or others dont mind. I wouldnt be caught dead in another persons blind if I noticed it was well kept or used rather recently. Respect the time and effort and money that went into anothers blind and hopefully the same will be granted back to you.
But I can agree with Brant hunter. If you build a blind in a great spot that people would of hunted before you built it then I would only guess that they'd use your blind. It could be your spot, but its still not your land.
I believe that my blind on public land is a public blind. There is no way that I would support the idea that I am entitled to ownership of a spot just by building a blind and that if I'm not there, you can't utilize it. First come, first serve so I try to get to the blind first. If that doesn't work, I have a choice of a lot of marsh to sit in without a roof and that works for me.
Where I have been hunting, I can say that those who have used the blind I constructed, have been good about leaving nothing in the way of litter behind. I thank you!

Why do the ducks come just after I pour my coffee?
x2 Ken.
We built this blind full well knowing that others would use it. On days when we want to hunt out of it, we just have to drag our assess out of bed early enough to make sure we are there first.
A funny thing happened when we were building it, a CO stoped by the launch just as we were about to leave. He asked if we were hunting and we said, "No, just building today", and he said, "That's a temporary blind you're building, right?"
I said, "Sure, there's no concrete involved at all."

Drinking rum before 10 a.m. does not mean you are an alcoholic, it means you are a pirate.
I've yet to see a CO out there.Glad to hear they are around. As for blinds I have one that I built and use occasionally and I know it has been used by others and the only litter sometimes is empty hulls which is what bothers me ,not that it's been used. With my punt I can pretty much go were the ducks want to be, I find a blind can be too restricting, sometimes your at the right spot and sometimes your not. As for the the high brass shell in the photo I have no doubt that it's a reload, back up for those terrible Expert shells.

Watch out for the "Post Police" ........ a dime a dozen and quick to judge on this site. Imperial shell spotted .... must be lead I think some one is saying ......
