Why you shouldn't camp on a gravel bar...in a rain storm...

Got these pics from a buddy. Hunters camped on the Macgregor River, east of PG earlier this week. Photos taken over a couple of days. I guess the river rose 2m overnight!!!! Haven't talked to him in person to get more details yet.

The other vechicles shown earlier are completely submerged here...the water finally dropped enough to get the vehicles towed out yesterday...ruined their day I'm sure.

Not to be too hard on the guys in the pics (I do feel bad for them), but luck didn't really have much to do with it.

I suspect these guys may have spent too much time in the concrete jungle and too little time near rivers.

That is a very extreme increase in water level, sucks though.

It is and I am not too sure why they weren't able to pull out before the water began lapping up against the tires...hoping to get some more details. My buddy was not one of the people camped with them, they were camped on the other side of the river and managed to stay dry.

Sure must have snowed in the mountains, and then with the rain lower down...............................Flood!! Mcgregors claim more vehicles!! Tough part of the world to play in, and work!! Can't take nothing for granted in the mountains!! Hard lesson learned for sure!! Moosin
