    Re: Grouse guns

I plan to use my 12ga - 2-3/4 wingmaster to do some grouse hunting this fall.

Just curious to know if people use 12ga for grouse? And what size shot is best? I'm a little concerned that I'll wreck alot of meat if I use the wrong size shot. I guess its more about shot placement than anything?

    thanks

That's exactly what I have been looking for. A Savage Model 24. .22 over .410. Great little gun.
I'd rather have a bottle in front of me than a frontal labotomy!

I been looking for one too. dont think savage make them any more. You can try Baikal in 410/22 but they seem pretty expensive IMO, and the 22 is probably not so accurate anyways so wont give much of a range advantage over a 410.

Im considering compromising with a 410 double.

.22 on the roads, 12ga if I'm working the bush and wing shooting. Seem to have a lot less meat damage with the shotgun unless I have a perfect head shot on the .22. Maybe its time to scope the it...

i use my kids savage youth cub .22 and my hatsan escort 12ga.
i prefer pickin them off the ground with the 22 but now that my dog is better trained i like to have him flush and pick em out of the air and have him retreve.
