Adult Duck Toller looking for a forever home

Fife is in the Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever Club of Canada Rescue Program. http://www.toller.ca/rescue_dogs.html

He is currently being fostered in Quesnel.

Fife is 5 year old (misprint on Rescue site, this dog IS 5 years ol), neutered male. He is a big, handsome boy. He's very sweet and active, loves to play fetch and ride in cars. Good around food bowls, accepts body handling and nail grinding. Knows "sit", "down", "wait" and "come". Fife will resource guard with other dogs, so ideally he should be an only dog. He is good with cats, has met horses without incident, loves men and adores small children. While he's biddable and co-operative, he will require rules and consistency to bring out his best. He has some very ingrained barking behaviour, which is centred on doors/gates. He is not a nuisance barker, though.

I'm in Quesnel and would love this dog.....

Only problem is that you stated that this should be an "only dog" and my wife has a 7 pound Tibetan Chin. How would this work??

We looked into him but we are looking for a partner for our 8 year old Toller so the "only dog" wouldn't work.
Another one had serious "cat" problems which wouldn't work with our cat ( tho' it would make me happy to see the cat leave home ).
Another Toller at a breeder that will remain unnamed looked very promising but the Breeder stopped communicating when we actually asked questions about the dog. Been there before with that breeder so I guess we shoulda' known better.
BUT, we have found an adorable 11 month old lad that fits the bill and will be picking him up in 10 days for a weeks "test drive" after meeting him and the breeder last Saturday. Looks like our Molly will have a little brother to lord over.
The only problem is the wife says that one unneutred male in the house is enough and I don't know if that means the dog or me loses his nuts.

Finally got permission from the wife to add to the family, but it looks like i was too late.

Too bad...looks like a great dog.

I called on Thursday to the woman back east. She said no longer available.

Laura called on Saturday after my post. Said that Fife was still available. Took a look on Sunday. Great looking dog but probably best suited for someone with a little more skill then I have!
