    There is quite a bit of synthetical out there now. I am a bit of a "traditionalist" and try to use naturals. I find it just looks better ... To me.
    But honestly i dont tie too many nymphs. And if you go out to shoot a rabbit you can skin it and stuff it in the freezer for a few months and you got lots! just keep your harvested material sepporate from your bought. I lost alot of material from something i dont know what was but im sure it was from the stuff i shot.

    We dont fly fish to save money !!!! we do it to spend it!

    I think the going rate is anywhere between 2 and 3 bucks. I like tying flies, but for some of the more intricate, time-consuming patterns I have no problem forking out the $$.

    I agree with doubled ..list except i would add pheasant tailed nymph..thats your standard mayfly pattern...and wooley bugger..although I seldom use that , there are times...

    hmmm $2-$3 each...yup $3,000 worth of flies siiting in boxes here and there...was a LOOOONG winter..lol

    Alot of the cheepo flys if you go out and buy some head cement and apply it they last longer. if you put it on the head knot and tinsel bodies.
